IF NOT YOU, WHO? CHANGING YOUR LIFE WITH WORDS - DAY 93

We all like to receive compliments and praise from others.  Parents, older siblings, grandparents, teachers, and friends can all build us up so that we feel much more capable and confident in our abilities.  When we enter the work force our superiors and colleagues can make us feel good about our contributions and the quality of our work.

What happens though if we don't have a supportive family or a large family?  What if we are shy and find it not so easy to make lots of friends.  What if our job is with people who are not generous with encouragement and praise?

Then we just have to do it ourselves.  In truth we know when we have done something well.  We are totally aware when we do the right thing.  We recognize when we meet challenges.  So if no one else is paying tribute to us, then we must do it ourselves.  I can do it if need be, and so can you.

Today's message is:

BUILD MYSELF UP!

HOW MANY THERMAL UNITS DO YOU HAVE? CHANGING YOUR LIFE WITH WORDS - DAY 65

As I decided to write this blog post I was unsure if I wanted to refer to thermal units or kilowatt hours since neither of those terms are used frequently in my life.  I want to encourage you to think about what you really are made of, how capable you truly are, and whether you are like a low-voltage light bulb, a bolt of lightning, a nuclear power plant or the magnificent sun.  Each of those incredible energy sources has unique characteristics and power.  Think long and hard before you assign any of those descriptions to your person because once you realize what you are like you will become stronger, more confident, and successful.

Today's message is:

KNOW YOUR POWER!

DO YOU SHY AWAY FROM COMMITMENTS? CHANGING YOUR LIFE WITH WORDS - DAY 31

The words "afraid of commitment" or "commitment-phobic" are typically used to describe a person in a romantic relationship.  That is not why I selected the title for today's blog post.  Throughout our lives we are faced with situations and opportunities that require commitment.  Many people are leery of making any type of commitment for fear things may not work out or that something better will come along for them.  What they refuse to accept is that when things do not work out it is not the end of the word.  It is just an opportunity to start anew.

Are you a deliberate person?  Are you a wishy-washy person?  Are you a confident person?  Are you a late bloomer?  Are you a spectator or a participant in life?  Whether talking about personal relationships, friendships, hobbies, volunteer work, businesses, or career paths it is good to take a stand and commit to something.

Today's message is:

Be intentional.
