DON'T WASTE EVEN ONE DAY - CHANGING YOUR LIFE WITH WORDS - DAY 125

Last night as I was watching Dancing With The Stars I was sorry to learn that one of the contestants Bill Nye had suffered a severe injury.  I was surprised when he decided to dance anyway despite what the doctor told him.  When asked why he opted to do it he said something like , "People don't regret what they do but what they don't do."

While we all have or will have regrets for some of the things we say or do in our lives, I think he was correct.  At the end of the day we will regret things left undone, opportunities not taken, words not spoken, kindness not extended, rifts not mended, and never doing the things that we always have wanted to do.  Time is fleeting and life is short.

Today's message is:

BE HAPPY NOW!

HOW OFTEN DO YOU DO THIS? CHANGING YOUR LIFE WITH WORDS - DAY 123

Living a thankful life can make each day joyful, each burden lighter, each relationship better, and relieve the stress that plagues so many of us these days. With all the trouble in the world today it is too easy to think only of what is wrong in our lives.  I know it is easy to be bogged down with unhappy thoughts, angry reactions, bitter feelings, and despair over things that are not as we want them to be.  In spite of these things, however, there is one thing each of us can do to help ourselves.

Being thankful is not just for religious people, but it is for all people.  I truly believe that every person can find things each day for which to be thankful.  Beauty, music, art, nature, and kindness are available to all of us at no cost so even the poorest of the poor can enjoy them.  Family, friends, work, health, opportunities, and so many other things to be thankful for are truly blessings.

Today's message is:

COUNT BLESSINGS!

NOW OR LATER? CHANGING YOUR LIFE WITH WORDS - DAY 114

I have learned this lesson very late in life, and I wish I had learned it when I was very young.  Instead of enjoying each day for itself, I used to always be looking forward and waiting for a future date.  You know those things we tell ourselves to justify postponing things we really want to do or need to do.  We say we will do it/them when we have enough money, when the children are older, when life is not so busy, or when we have enough time.

By putting things off we often miss opportunities, damage friendships, wait to repair relationships until it is too late, and prevent ourselves from knowing the joy that each day can bring.  We postpone our joy until some future date, and because life is fragile we truly never know if we will be around when that future date arrives.

Today's message is:

ENJOY THIS NOW!

DO YOU REALIZE HOW POWERFUL YOU ARE? CHANGING YOUR LIFE WITH WORDS - DAY 25

Sometimes we give away our power to others because of things they say to us or do to us.  We allow others to determine our abilities, our opportunities, our successes, our failures and our futures.  Well, it is time to stop that right now.  When you have a dream, a wish, a challenge, a difficult situation or a tough job to do try to remember these very powerful words.  Keep saying them to yourself over and over, and take back your power.

Today's message is:

I can do this!

DO YOU WANT EVERYTHING TO BE VANILLA? - CHANGING YOUR LIFE WITH WORDS - DAY 17

Are you set in your ways?  Do you dislike change?  Are you fearful of things you do not understand or with which you are unfamiliar?  Do you willingly try new foods?  Are you a fan of only one type of music? Are your friends just like you?  Do you try new ideas?  Do you make new friends wherever you go?  Do you always visit the same section of a bookstore or library?  Do you tend to wear the same colors all the time? Do you always vacation in the same place?  Can you discuss politics or religion with someone who has opposing views?

We live in a world which offers abundant choices and opportunities.  You don't have to be wealthy or even solvent to try many things which cost little to nothing.  Open yourself up to new experiences, people, sounds, vistas, foods, cultures, and changes in general.

Today's message is:

Love diversity!

Fortune Cookies To Love

What would a night of Chinese take-out be without the included fortune cookies?  Not only do I actually like the taste of fortune cookies, but I think there is something fun about going around the table with each person sharing the prediction from his or her cookie.  One of my favorite "fortunes" has been taped to the top of my computer monitor for several years.  It simply says.................We are continually faced by great opportunities brilliantly disguised as insoluble problems.  Today life has thrown me a curve ball like no other I have ever experienced, and I am hoping that very soon a great opportunity will appear on my horizon.
