DO YOU THINK YOU CAN OR THINK YOU CAN'T? CHANGING YOUR LIFE WITH WORDS - DAY 85

Sometimes people do not realize the power we have over ourselves to do things, to try new things, to meet our goals, to find love, and to be successful.  Positive thinking is one of the strongest forces we have in our personal arsenals on a daily basis.  Likewise negative thinking is one of the most destructive habits which .at times seems more powerful than positive thinking.  Don't be fooled by that because positive thinking is of more help and value to you.  You have to remind yourself to use it daily.  If you start having negative thoughts stop yourself immediately and think of the opposite positive thoughts and be aware of what the words are.  You will overcome the negative thoughts.

If other people have negative thoughts or words about you, just remember that your positive thoughts about yourself are more important than what anyone else thinks or says.  Let their negativity roll off of you as you combat it with your own positive thinking.

It may not come naturally to you at first if you tend to be a pessimistic person, but if you sincerely try you will find in time that you have helped yourself tremendously.  You will see that what you have thought to be impossible for you has become possible.

Today's message is:

IT IS POSSIBLE!

DO YOU NEED A NEW MANTRA? - CHANGING YOUR LIFE WITH WORDS - DAY 9

Although we all think we know people who have not a care in the world,  actually every person has cares and woes.  Some people do not allow them to rule their lives and actively pursue methods to allow them to cope with their individual troubles.

One of the most successful methods emanated from Dr. Norman Vincent Peale's book The Power of Positive Thinking.  When it was first published it was considered ground breaking, was published in many languages, sold millions of copies and continues to be available to this day.  Many other self-help books and videos have been produced since then  There is no shortage of advice from motivational speakers, hypnotists, priests, pastors, authors, medical professionals, and well-meaning friends and family members.
Sometimes quotations, Scripture verses, old sayings or book titles will strike a chord with you and become part of your coping mechanism.

Some Scripture verses are short and simple but very powerful, and Proverbs 23:7 is one of those.  It says:
As a man thinks in his heart, so is he.

When physical, mental, emotional or financial problems are troubling you, having a simple mantra to repeat to yourself anywhere, anytime, and as often as you want can be very soothing and calming.  Today's message can be that mantra, so use it whenever needed:

I will be okay.

Changing Life With Words

The things we say and think are controlling factors in our lives.  If you are a person who already thinks positively, talks happily, and focuses on the good things in life then this blog post won't mean much to you.

BUT.......if you find at times that your thoughts are more unhappy than uplifting, your choice of words more discouraging than encouraging, and facing the future makes you anxious in any way...........then come along with me and concentrate each day on a positive word or phrase...............let's find ways to include it in our thoughts and actions throughout the day.

Whether you are old or young, let's begin by remembering this key phrase:

                                                  Life is for living!

Are You A Positive Thinker?

During the course of my life I have tried to be a positive thinker and an optimistic person in general.  My children continue to refer to me as "Polly" as in Pollyanna, but I am not oblivious to the negative things that happen in my life or around me.  I just choose to think that my glass is half-full rather than half-empty.

Because these times in which we are living are so troubled, I was pleased to find a way to use a list of positive thoughts, actions, and feelings for two Christmas gifts. The list originated with a man Leo Quinn who has various Internet enterprises and on whose mailing list I am.  I printed out the list for myself.  Then as the holidays came closer for my daughter and my cousin I photocopied the list and cut each word out.  Having at least 365 strips of paper I put each set in an opaque plastic bowl with a red cover (not very elegant but I needed something large enough to hold all the slips of paper).  I told both recipients that I hoped each morning during 2013 they would draw out one piece of paper and focus on that word throughout the day.  Whether they actually will follow through or not I don't know, but I believe if they do that they will benefit from focusing on the positive.  I also gave them other gifts.

Are you a positive or negative individual?  If you are positive, please leave your comments as to how you maintain your positive attitude?  If you are a negative person, what would it take to change your attitude from pessimistic to optimistic?  Share your comments, please.  You never know when what you write will help a person on the other side of your town or on the other side of the world.
