DO YOU REALLY EVER GIVE YOUR ALL? CHANGING YOUR LIFE WITH WORDS - DAY 106

Have you ever told anyone that you give 110% to your job?  I know I have said things like that at times, but in truth none of us can give more than 100% because 100% means ALL.  With the advent of the Internet and Smart Phones, people spend a great deal of time sending text messages, taking photos and videos, playing games, shopping, and just surfing the Internet.  It makes me wonder how many people are really giving their best to their spouses, children, friends, employers or customers.

No one gives their best or their all 100% of the time, and every person needs to have rest and recreation. However, if you learn to manage your time, to set your priorities and re-set them when appropriate you will give your all and get much more joy and satisfaction from so doing.  You will be a better friend, a better spouse, a better parent, a better employee, a better boss, and a better person.

DID YOU KNOW YOU CAN GIVE EVERY PERSON A GIFT? CHANGING YOUR LIFE WITH WORDS - DAY 46

Typically when we think of giving someone a gift we think of shopping, wrapping, and delivering a gift which either we have made or we have purchased.  If we had to give every person a gift we would not be able to afford it unless we won the lottery or the Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes.

You have something that is free which you can give to every person you know and even to everyone you do not know.  It is as simple as smiling.  When you smile at others you brighten their day, you perhaps make them feel joyful, you may make them feel not so alone in the world as many people do, and you will find you make yourself feel more cheerful when you exercise those facial muscles.  You can even smile at people when you answer the phone if you smile while saying hello.  It will affect how you sound, and that can make the caller feel joyful.

SPREAD JOY

It Is Friday, Time Is Flying, But Enjoy The Anticipation

Today is the 16th. Hanukkuh begins on the 21st. Christmas Eve is on the 24th. New Year's Eve is on the 31st. Now I realize all of you know these dates .......so why am I writing them in this post, you ask? If you are like I am, then your to-do lists are overly ambitious and guaranteed to cause stress and anxiety as the days on the calendar go by and the hours on the clock tick louder and louder. When this happens I seem to try to kick everything into high gear and just get it all done (must have been all those years in retailing that did this to me). Well, not this year.......I have decided that I want to enjoy the anticipation of the holidays, the actual preparations for them, the shopping and baking and wrapping and decorating, the parties and music........I will not just rush to get it all done this year. Life is so fragile that we never know what can happen between these holidays and those of 2012. Slow down, take some deep breaths, kiss your children and grandchildren, turn off the lights and sit in front of your Christmas tree or your Menorah and remember what the holidays are actually about and why we acknowledge and celebrate them. Enjoy peace, tranquility, togetherness and happy memories. That is what I am going to do!!!
