IS YOUR VIEW OF THE FUTURE CLOUDY? CHANGING YOUR LIFE WITH WORDS - DAY 60

During these chaotic and worrisome times in the world, do you find your view of the future is cloudy or even murky?  Sometimes just trying to figure out what is true and what is fiction in the daily news broadcasts and publications makes one's head spin.  It makes one feel as if the world we live in is going to hell, that we have lost our moral compass, discarded our sense of respect and dignity, and that too many of our fellow citizens no longer have any semblance of integrity or decency................and all of those feelings can overwhelm a person in the course of a single day.

In order to sort out the important from the unimportant, the true from the untrue, and the things about which you have control versus those over which you have no control you have to accept responsibility for ferreting out the information.  There are many well-written articles available to you on the Internet with suggestions for how to achieve calmness and to clear up the darkness you may be seeing or feeling about the future for yourself and loved ones.  Just Google the words "find clarity" because:

HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT YOURSELF? CHANGING YOUR LIFE WITH WORDS - DAY 34

You are not always encouraged to be proud of yourself.  Some people equate pride with arrogance or conceit as in the old saying, "Pride goes before a fall."  My opinion is that there are many ways to be proud of yourself without thinking or acting as if you are more important than others or feeling superior to them.

Your integrity, behavior, appearance, attitude, compassion, empathy, accomplishments, and generosity are facets of life in which you can and should take pride in yourself.  If everyone did,  the world would be quite a different place.

Today's message is:

Have pride in yourself.

Why Trust Is A Must

The more I read and the more I hear about what is going on in the world, I am shocked and dismayed by the lack of integrity existing today in the realm of journalists, newscasters, bloggers, and celebrities.  Slanted, biased, untrue, and misleading are just some of the words that describe the information that not only we are exposed to on a daily basis but also to what our CHILDREN are exposed.

There was a time when integrity was not considered optional in our society, but it seems that era is long gone.  From the highest office to the lowest citizen in our world blatant untruths abound and are passed around via the Internet at such speed that trying to stop them is like trying to stop a moving train.  The people who originate lies obviously must have their own motivation to do so, but people who pass lies on and on seem to do so without thinking or researching to prevent perpetuating lies.

To bring up our children to be honest, productive, successful, educated, and caring adults they need and should be able to expect integrity from everyone.  Children are innocent, trusting and malleable so trust is a must......................how on earth are we going to restore integrity in our society?

Any suggestions?

Once Upon A Time and Happily Everafter

When reading to my own children it seemed as if all the first stories they loved began with, "Once upon a time......." and ended with, "and they lived happily everafter." As time went on their favorite books were more realistic, age appropriate, and were not fairy tales. There are so many lessons that children can learn from books. Books can inspire children to rise to amazing heights, to gain hope for a better life, and expose them to many professions and occupations. Books can also be an escape for children who live in unfortunate circumstances, and books can comfort them in learning that their situations are not hopeless. Biographies describe successful lives and how great and small obstacles can be overcome. Books can teach children about other cultures, other countries, and also open a world of imagination. Books can teach children the importance of integrity, ethics and even good manners. The children of today are our future so let's give them the very best possible foundation for learning........the ability to read is that foundation regardless of the subject matter. Start reading to your babies and toddlers. It is never too early. You too will enjoy that time with your little ones.
