LIVING TAKES COURAGE - CHANGING YOUR LIFE WITH WORDS - DAY 27

Are you courageous?  Are you a risk taker? Do you encourage your children to be brave and to take risks? When we were growing up our mother cautioned my two siblings and me against taking any risks, doing anything out of the ordinary, trying anything new, and instilled fear of many things in us (for example, none of us ever learned to swim).    Fortunately, our father was very brave and although he did not openly contradict  Mother, he allowed us more freedom to try things.

My brother was the oldest and wanted to take flying lessons to which Mother was vehemently opposed.  One day as she was out in the back yard hanging up laundry a small plane buzzed overhead.  Without her knowledge but with Dad's permission my brother learned to fly.  I am so glad he did because he joined the U. S. Navy not long after that, and several years later he and his new bride were killed in an automobile accident.  At least before his time on this earth was up he was able to do some of the things he wanted to do.

I was 7 years old and my sister was 12 when our brother and sister-in-law were killed, but somehow we learned that life is too short and that there are some risks worth taking.  You have to have the courage and the self-confidence to trust your judgment and sometimes risk it all..............for business, for love, for life, for your children, and for yourself (and not necessarily in that order).

Today's message is:

Risk it all!

Sometimes all your eggs in one basket can be a good thing.
